To stay always up to date with everything that happens at DCM-WIRE.
We supply automated welding systems to join the internal steel structure of the concrete segments.
We strengthen our leadership in custom industrial automation solutions for major European projects.
At DCM-WIRE, we are proud to be part of one of the greatest achievements in contemporary engineering: the Fehmarn Belt Tunnel, which will connect Denmark and Germany through an 18-kilometer underwater infrastructure. This megaproject, already under construction, is set to transform mobility across Europe and become the longest immersed tunnel in the world for both rail and road traffic.
The tunnel will link Rødbyhavn (Denmark) with the island of Fehmarn (Germany), forming part of the Scandinavia–Mediterranean corridor (Scan-Med), a key route within the Trans-European Transport Network. Scheduled to be operational in 2029, it will dramatically reduce travel times—from 45 minutes by ferry to just 10 minutes by car or 7 by train.
Construction involves the underwater assembly of 89 reinforced concrete sections, each 217 meters long and weighing 73,000 tons. Each module will accommodate two lanes for road traffic, two for rail, and one service tunnel.
Our company is honored to be one of the few technology providers directly involved in the execution of this historic infrastructure.
We supply the automated welding systems responsible for joining the internal steel framework of the massive concrete modules. This process ensures high precision, structural integrity, and full traceability—all critical factors for the safety and durability of a tunnel of this scale.
Our involvement further strengthens our position as a leader in tailor-made automation solutions for demanding industrial processes such as resistance welding, wire forming, and metal rod handling.
A project that connects nations
The Fehmarn Belt Tunnel is not just a logistical milestone. It also symbolizes a coordinated effort among nations, companies, and engineers to bring people, economies, and cultures closer through technological innovation.
At DCM-WIRE, we embrace this vision: we believe engineering can—and must—be a driver of global progress.
Looking ahead
This project reaffirms our commitment to excellence, sustainability, and active involvement in initiatives that shape the future of mobility and infrastructure in Europe.
We will continue to work closely with our international clients and partners, delivering custom solutions designed to meet real, high-impact industrial challenges.
